Ashura is the tenth day of Muharram which is the first Islamic month. It is a day which is commemorated by all the Muslims of the world to remember the sacrifices given by the grandson of the Holy Prophet (s) to save Islam. It was a sad day in the history of Islam when Imam Husain (a) the third spiritual Imam of the Shi’ite school of thought was martyred alongside his family in the land of Karbala. The nature of this battle was so brutal that even after so many years millions of Muslims start preparing as soon as this month begins, and arrange processions and seminars to create awareness among the public and keep on reminding them the importance of this sad day.
It has been mentioned in our books of religious law that working on Ashura or engaging in any worldly activity is highly disliked.
